Live Edge Designs
Live edge furniture is definitely on trend. Live edge slabs are all about the character. Since they are literally a slice out of the center of a tree, you get the color, grain, and knots that will make your table truly one-of-a-kind. I work with my clients to source the ideal slabs for their homes, and you can pick out the unique slab that appeals to you.
My workshop is equipped with a massive slab processing mill that can handle slabs 18’ long and 4-1/2’ wide; the largest in the area. It allows me to flatten large slabs into ideal tabletop surfaces for dining tables, conference tables, and more. Slabs are prone to a lot of wood movement and splitting, so I take great care to stabilize these beauties using bowtie joints and epoxy, then appropriately attaching the tabletop to the table base to allow for continued wood movement (which all wood does and will do forever), while maintaining a functional, flat surface.

Bowtie joints like this stabilize cracks and add character. I also always fill natural voids and cracks with epoxy to create a smooth table surface.
